Original plan called for 11 hours and 300+ TSS. However, my biking attempts were a complete failure. On Tuesday, I started my night ride and went about 2 miles when my pedal broke. This is the second time in a year that my eggbeaters have failed in the exact same manner. I sent them in this week to be warrantied, however even when I get the new ones back, I don't know if I trust them anymore. For my Friday ride, I put my other eggbeater pedals on (from my CX bike) and headed out. Two miles into the ride, my RDR cable breaks. I cursed loudly. At first I thought I'd just treat it as a single speed, but the chain kept skipping on the cassette. The RDR didn't fully return, thus stuck in-between gears. Thus my planned 20-mile ride turned into 4miles. I'm scared to go out on any of my bikes right now. Every time I do it results in a mechanical.
I'm suppose to ride on Sunday, but I've since changed it to a strength workout and a simple 5k run.
I adjusted my training plan to reflect these mechanical issues. That way my planned vs. actual isn't skewed do to events out of my control. These types of events, and illness, are the only ones that will get me to change my plan.
My planned is now 6 hours, which I should hit (knock on wood)
