Went to the MMBA forums to check trail conditions for Poto. Yeah, this is the non-profit mountain bike group that booted me out because a forum moderator didn’t like my politics. Old news, who cares. I’ll still go to check trail conditions, however I did browse the other topics since it’s been probable a year since I’ve done so.
The ‘General’ section has about five posts that are active over the last couple days. After that, they go stale quickly. Even the active posts are much to do about nothing. The rest of the categories are pretty much the same. The only category relatively active is the ‘Racing’ category. Even then, the posts go down hill quickly, meaning they turn into bitch contests (as usual).
I’m sure Facebook has caused the forums to dry-up. I know the attitudes of posters has done that as well. I remember the recruiting pitch: MMBA is great, just don’t go to the forums. I wonder how much longer before they just shutter the sight. Especially since I’m not sure the MMBA even exits anymore since they are just a chapter of IMBA.
