My bike always starts acting up a couple days before a race. This week was no different. Maybury race tomorrow and my bike decides to stop shifting properly. I do maintain my bike extremely well so I was a little surprised at how it was acting.
Thursday I checked the chain and it showed full wear. I check this chain twice a month so within two weeks it went from okay to full wear. I barely rode the mountain bike. Changing a chain means changing a cassette. Ugh. I always have a new chain and cassette handy so I put the new stuff on. I take the bike for a ride up the road and now I have chain suck super bad, but only in the middle ring. Great, now I get to change the middle chain ring. This morning (I took the day off) I go buy a chain ring and new cables and housing. Couple hours later I have a bike that seems to work perfect, although the race will be the test. Not really the stuff I wanted to do on my day off.
