Final race of the season, well, the CPS season. My first race at this trail, but I did pre-ride it the week before. Weather was a tad cold and rainy but did clear up. It was cold enough for me to put long sleeves on, but warmed up enough that those sleeves made it too hot. When will I learn that freezing at the start is better than burning up during the race.
This race was also the official birth of Team Gupster. The team consists of me racing and my girl handing me water bottles, helping me getting ready, and taken pictures.
I finished 5th out of 11th. I felt pretty good this race. Had a very strong sprint at the end. Strong enough to pass 6th and 7th place racers. I did hit a tree on my third lap that took me right off my bike. The large chain ring tore into my shin, which hurt really bad. The fall caused minimal time loss, maybe 30 seconds. It will leave a scar though.
I am still using Accelerade and Heed together. Trying to determine which works best for me. I'm starting to lean towards the Heed. It seems that every race that I feel REALLY good, I seem to have Heed in the water bottle. I don't remember any race with Accelerade where I felt strong throughout the race.
