Lost Training

First week back to classes and my students got me sick.  I rarely, if ever, get sick and now I have a terrible cold.  I tried to run Thursday morning, but the heavy breathing from intervals killed my throat.  So I just lifted weights instead.  I missed almost four days of training.  I’m so use to some sort of training everyday that I feel like a fat slob missing this much time.

I’m hoping to get back in the saddle tonight with a simple 5k run to warm up the legs.  Tomorrow I’ll do an open water swim in Lake Michigan and maybe some time on the mountain bike.  By Tuesday I should be back in full swing.

Next weekend in Reeds Lake Triathlon, which for me is just another race.  Not really passionate about it and don’t really care.  I wasn’t going to do it, but a sponsor paid my entry fee, so I’ll do it and give it 100%.  My real focus is Iceman Cometh mountain bike race in November.  My goal is top 5, which means I need to put in some serious saddle time.
