As I build my new training plain in Training Peaks, I've narrowed down my 2012 season goals.
1. Finish two half-ironman distance triathlons. By finish, I mean survive.
2. Personal Best in both Xterra events (Fort Custer and Torn Shirt). This will put emphasis on my trail running.
3. Finish Iceman in 1:50:00 to 1:55:00, depending on course conditions.
4. Finish top 5 in at least 4 mountain bike races, Expert class.
To accomplish these will require a commitment to training like I've never done before. I'm looking at 700-800 hours of training, which equates too roughly 10-15 hours a week in training. For me that is a big leap.
I'll be relying on Training Peaks and WKO+ to monitor my progress. TP has a Performance Management Chart that that has become one of the most useful training tools I've ever used. Second to that is the Quadrant Analysis. I am looking at buying a couple of training plans as well. I was very good at structure a mountain bike plan (not so good at following it), but building an effective triathlon plan is not my forte.
