Maybury Time Trial

Well, had the Maybury Time Trial this past Saturday. The course is a lot of switchbacks and blind corners.  Course knowledge definitely has the advantage in this race, but not an absolute advantage.

One thing I learned is that I need to get more time on my tires.  I do not trust these tires right now.  I have no idea why since I've been riding them all season, but I was just all 'brakes' on Saturday.  Once you hit the brakes, say goodbye to momentum.  This entire season I feel like I'm lacking the mountain bike skills.  All seemed to start at the Fort Custer TT.

To help with this, I did some crit sprints during today's ride.  35 second sprints and I did my best to lay off the brakes.  I also did a fast tempo ride, also paying close attention to how often I brake.  There were a few times I felt myself reaching for the brakes, but held back.  A couple white knuckle turns where feathering the brake may have been a good idea.  I'll keep my focus on this. I believe I have the physical capacity to be competitive, just need to work on the braking.
