Well, I'm holding up to my weight lifting schedule. I've started to pick up the leg exercises. You learn quickly which muscles you don't use mountain biking. Some days I hurt all over. I've also been playing a lot of basketball, which is fun and gives me a different cardio workout.
I haven't touched the bike since November 11. Per my training schedule, I'm suppose to start spin class next week, however I think I'll keep skipping spin. Instead I'll just spend an hour on my trainer. Once January hits I do so much spin I'd rather take a longer break from it so I'm not burnt out on it like I am now.
There is snow on the ground so I'll start snowboarding this weekend. Tonight I'll wax my board and dust all my equipment off. I'm a big fan of Burton just because growing up, Jake Burton was the man. Not too many other brands interest me, however I am keeping my eye on Rome snowboards. I am wishing I picked up a board during the off-season when prices were lower. I'd love to try one of their boards. I also hear their bindings are incredible. Not too many companies can compete with Burton's binding line, but I hear Rome puts up a good fight. The one thing I will say about Burton is that their clothing line is getting a little too crazy for me. I ventured away from them and bought some snow-pants from 686. Burton's luggage is awesome..expensive...but awesome.
Speaking of Burton, let's talk about Shaun White. I don't really understand why he is considered the man who ruined snowboarding. All I hear is that White took away the core meaning of snowboarding and made it too commercial. First, you have to respect his talent. Seriously, he is amazing and he has brought snowboarding competition to a new level. Second, White did what every single person on the planet would do: he took the money from his sponsors. White killed in the Olympics, which really put snowboarding in the living rooms of the world. Because of that, large corporate America came knocking at his door. No longer is he just sponsored by snowboarding related companies. Thus he is blamed for making boarding too commercial. I'd like to know one person who would turn down the money White received.
