First race of the season, time to put the off-season training to the test.  This is a 11-mile time trial race and it is also a very popular race as well.

I was excited for this race because it's my home track.  I could draw this trail out by memory.  The temps were unusually high (80+), which put a unique twist on the race since most of  use have been training in sub-60 degree temps.

I started off strong and felt strong through most of the race, especially since I was passing a lot of people.  However, around mile 4, my handlebars clipped a tree and down I went.  Unfortunately, the fall was on a long hill too, so the loss of momentum on the climb really hurt me.  I believe this fall cost me 2 minutes in my time.

I finished the race in 57 minutes, which beat my own personal time by 2 minutes. My race time placed me 14th out 33 of riders.  Add back the time from the fall and I'm in 8th place.  Stupid tree.

What I learned from this race:  Electrolytes: needed more for the heat.  I think I may have over hydrated prior to the race.

I adjusted my HR zones so they are based on LT Threshold now instead of Max HR.  Here are some pics from that day:
